Sovereign LORD. The term occurs 303 times in the Bible. Two root words are used, and two variations of the first are used, for the term generally translated variously as "Lord Jehovah", The Interlinear Bible; "Sovereign LORD", NIV; and "Lord GOD", KJV.

113 adon, aw-done'; from an unused root (mean. to rule); sovereign, i.e., controller (human or devine):--lord, master, owner. Comp. also names beginning with "Adoni-". [O]
